The Import function allows you to import a variety of formats:

  • manually adding an individual recipient

  • importing a CSV/TXT file

  • importing an Excel file

  • importing an XML file

  • using copy and paste text into MailUp, and have the system automatically detect and extract email addresses and mobile phone numbers

  • using one of the integrations with external systems available.

To get started, select Recipients > Import in the left-side navigation.

The file size must not exceed 20 MB (If the file exceeds 20 MB, the system may be unable to process it correctly. In this case, consider removing columns with data that are not essential to your email marketing campaigns.)

If you need to regularly import a large amount of data, you can choose the FTP import method instead.

Note

Important

  1. By default, MailUp imports recipients as subscribed.

  2. Personal data for existing recipients is updated without changing their status: a recipient marked as "Suspended" or "Unsubscribed" in the system will remain in that state. Duplicate addresses are not imported.

  3. Use Advanced Options during the import process to modify these settings.

When importing mobile numbers, it’s important to pay close attention to how the phone numbers are formatted in the file:

  • If numbers are imported without a country code, they will be imported correctly.

  • If numbers include the correct international code “0039” or “+39,” they will be imported correctly.

  • If numbers are imported with “39” (which is not the correct international code format), they will not be imported correctly.
